Victory at the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition in October 2021 turned Bruce Liu into a worldwide sensation. Deutsche Grammophon’s live album of his competition recordings was released to rave reviews the following month, and the Canadian-Chinese pianist pianist became an exclusive DG artist in March 2022.
Berlin, 29 March 2022. Deutsche Grammophon is delighted to mark World Piano Day by announcing the signing of an exclusive agreement with Bruce Liu. The 24-year-old Canadian pianist shot “from near obscurity to rock-star status in the classical music world” (The Globe and Mail) after winning the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition last autumn, since when his performances worldwide have been showered with critical acclaim.
An exceptional venue calls for an exceptional recital. And it was the case since Bruce Liu’s outstanding performance on October 28 took place in the beautiful Chopin Salon at the Chaumet headquarters, Place Vendôme. Led by Hélène Arnault, a renowned pianist and concertist herself, the salon where the Polish genius wrote his last mazurka, vibrated with the most exquisite notes.
“Pianist Bruce Liu, magician's fingers and soul of integrity.”
“This is a pianist with a captivating musical personality.”
A pianist "evoking Shura Cherkassky and Georges Cziffra in a single breath."
“On first encounter, there seems something attractively straightforward about his approach; an elegance and lightness of touch…”
“You don’t always know where Bruce Liu is taking you, but you feel compelled to follow him“
